I’m a fun loving central Texas gal who never sees a party I don’t like! My motto is the more active the party the better. And I LOVE seeing and meeting new people. The bclub is a perfect outlet for me to do something good for breast cancer survivors while having a WHALE of a good time.
As a two time cancer survivor (neither of them bc), I know the intimate horrors of the cancer diagnosis. As I have moved through life, countless numbers of my friends have been impacted by breast cancer. In fact everyone I meet has somehow been impacted by this disease. When I speak about breast cancer and the fact that 40% of all female survivors are breast cancer survivors, a person’s most common response to me is…”how can I help?”
The bclub is YOUR easy way to do something that can make a difference. Host a party, the queenb’s and bkeepers don’t care how big or small your party might be…2 people and $50 raised, 100 and $10,000 raised, it all adds up and it all goes 100% to emergency services. Just remember to include me, if you like!
In my “day” job, I originate mortgage loans. I am trained as a CPA. So we can talk figures or parties…I know my preference and THAT is a bclub event any night or day of the week. Just call me PARTY GIRL!
I love my new title…Queen B. Makes me feel like I’m in charge! And what I am in charge of is helping spread the word about a new and very relevant community organization called the bClub.
In November of 2006 I had a breast cancer diagnosis. It is the shocking news you never want to hear no matter who you are but I thank my lucky stars everyday for I am one of the fortunate ones. I had the financial and emotional support of all my dear friends and family to see me through. Unfortunately many, many women and their families are not so lucky. I had been looking for a way to help the “cause” and the bClub fits the bill perfectly. It’s grassroots, it’s volunteer based and most important to me 100% of the money we raise goes straight into an emergency fund to immediately help breast cancer survivors. A single mom should not have to decide between feeding her kids and going to chemo. The bClub mission is to help families like these from falling through the cracks by providing financial aid for basic everyday needs
Everyone loves a party for a good cause and this is a GREAT one.
So, come to a party (or all the parties!), throw a party, tell your friends, B- INVOLVED! We will be having a lot of fun and raising money for some folks who really need our help.
Other things that keep me buzy as a bee…
I am the owner of Avenue Gallery, a retail gift and picture framing store on S. Congress and married to a wonderful man named John. We are both native Texans, UT alumni, avid foodies and live in Central Austin with our 2 dogs, fourteen fish and a turtle.
The b club came along at the perfect time of my life—recently retired, searching for something new and unique to commit to, with a lot of leverage to help folks. The B club gives hope, and HAS FUN!
We’re all in this together—there isn’t anyone I know whose life hasn’t been touched by cancer. I am a cancer widow myself, and know firsthand the reality of the financial difficulties cancer can bring--in spite of insurance, a good income, and a bright future. Treatment can be so overwhelming—emotionally, spiritually, and materially.
I am also known as the “dog lady,” because my professional life centered on training and caring for dogs for the last 15 years….now my husband William runs Taurus Training and Doggy Play Day by himself while I focus on animal welfare as Chair of EmanciPET. I am also a Master Gardener, and spend the rest of my time reading, hanging with my dogs, driving for Meals on Wheels, and puttering.
Now this is the way I like to help people! Party for a good cause-and ALL of the money donated goes directly to a person in need. I’m real familiar with this concept because my partner and I were chosen by Lew Aldridge way back when to be the very first Head Octopi for ASA’s Octopus Club. And the bclub follows Lew’s great concept to a “t”. Or should I say “b”…
The need is very real. The stories are too real. Now with the bclub it’s real easy to take action, by opening your home or venue to a party, or just opening your checkbook to host or attend a party.
I love a party, but when I’m not partying I work with my partner Tricia in our company, Hilltop Realty in Sunset Valley, where we live on two acres with our five chickens and, of course, two dogs.
Talk about extraordinary, that’s our Queenb Bettie Naylor. Bettie is known in the halls of our state legislature and beyond. She is plain spoken and sensible in her approach to the issues we face as a society. Breast Cancer is out of control and ruining the financial lives of far too many central Texas families. Bettie’s goal is to encourage you to organize parties so that we can raise money and keep breast cancer survivors in treatment.
It is a joy to say yes to Bettie. She has amazing charm and grace which leads us ALL to say YES to the things we know we want and need to do. Please give her a call and mention your ideas for a FUN’d raising party. Share the joy with Bettie and help make the life of one more breast cancer survivor a little bit better. If you do, she promises to shine her great smile on you!
